Nitto Denko Corporation(headquarter: Osaka, Japan, President: Hideo Takasaki, hereafter Nitto)is awarded “Commendations for Science and Technology (Development Category)” by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for inventing a new method of manufacturing ultra-thin polarizing film.

The Commendation by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology is the acknowledgement of remarkable achievements in research and development, and the contribution to advancing the understanding of science and technology. Additionally, Commendations aim to increase the motivation of those involved in the science and technology fields and contribute to the improvement of the level of science and technology in Japan. The "Awards for Science and Technology (Development Category)" are given to those who have conducted epoch-making research and achieved development with a practical application, or to inventions that have contributed to the improvement of Japan's socioeconomics and the quality of people's lives.

Nitto’s manufacturing method for ultra-thin polarizing film produces the thinnest level polarizing film until now. Polarizing film is an essential component of liquid crystals displays (LCD) and organic EL displays (OLED). This achievement not only contributes to the realization of thinner displays, but also contributes to the practical application on new generation hardware, such as foldable displays.

Nitto continues to contribute to the realization of a sustainable environment and the health and well-being of people by creating new values in Nitto’s three focus domains: Information Interface, Next-generation Mobility, and Human Life.
