Contributing to Local Communities 2014

Team Building Activities

The CSR team of Nitto Denko Automotive Missouri consists of members selected from each division. In 2014, the team led activities contributing to local communities called “Team Building Activities” and engaged in various supporting activities throughout the year.

Total donations raised amounted to more than USD 9,000, matching the proceeds of goods and sweets brought in by employees and sold in the office. In addition, in May, 23 employees assisted the delivery of food from a food bank. And in November, 12 employees assisted as volunteers in building a house.

We will draw up activity plans and continue to play our part in community-supporting activities in 2015.

Various Contributions to Local Communities in the Philippines

Nitto Denko (Philippines) continues to support disaster victims of Typhoon Yorand which hit Visayas in November 2013. In order to raise scholarships for students who might otherwise give up attending college because of the catastrophic damage, “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na, Takbo Na,” a 5-kilometer run, was held in Bonifacio Global City, an area under reconstruction in Taguig. Thirty employees of Nitto Denko (Philippines) participated in the run, with all of them completing the full distance.

Furthermore, the company not only donated school supplies to disadvantaged children, but also participated in a supporting event of a project of the international NGO “Habitat for Humanity,” which provides housing assistance. In fiscal 2014, Nitto Denko (Philippines) was involved in more than 10 such activities contributing to local communities.

Distributing Coal Briquettes to Undeveloped Areas in Seoul

There are undeveloped areas in the city of Seoul where people with difficulty buying even coal briquettes for warmth, live. On February 6, 2015, both Korea Nitto Denko and Nitto Denko Nitoms Korea donated 2,000 coal briquettes to Babsang Community Welfare Foundation, Bank of Briquette, which supports households of such people.

As there are a lot of steep hills and narrow alleys in such areas and distribution is hard, the company volunteers tried to distribute the coal briquettes by themselves. All employees from both companies went up and down the steep hills over and over for four and a half hours, carrying the coal on their shoulders and on two-wheeled carts. In all, they delivered 1,000 coal briquettes to seven households.
