Position: Senior R&D Scientist - Photopolymer

Now NDT has one immediate opening for a highly motivated and creative Senior R&D Scientist to join our location in Oceanside, CA. This position seeks a chemist who has broad knowledge and experiences in photopolymer and various polymerization methods, formulation, optical devices developments and polymer related product. You will be part of optical device development team.
Essential Job Requirements:
- Ph.D. Degree in Polymer chemistry or related field, > 2 years industrial experience in an R&D setting, or M.S degree in polymer chemistry or related field, >5 years industrial experience in R&D setting.
- Strong background in polymer chemistry is a must. In-depth knowledge of structure-property relations and materials properties; ability to design materials to desired properties, is a must.
- Strong photopolymer background is strongly preferred, >2 years of industrial experience in photopolymer formulation after graduation.
- Polyurethane type polymers experience is strongly preferred.
- Optically transparent polymers/ Optical device development experience is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of developing and formulating new products in the broad fields of organic, inorganic and hybrid materials with various applications is a plus.
- Strong awareness of safety of chemicals and reactions, ability to handle materials that are sensitive to air, light, and moisture.
- Highly motivated and self-driven individual with the ability to work independently, and multi-task under aggressive timeline to support team and corporate objectives
Preferred Qualification:
- Broad experience in the development of new synthetic strategies for producing polymers of defined structure and addressing problems at the interface of organic, inorganic, and polymer chemistry.
- Broad experience with polymerization processes.
- Proven ability to follow detailed SOPs and perform analytical techniques such as FTIR, UV-Vis, Microscope etc.
- Broad interests and willingness to take on relatively undefined challenges, excellent problem-solving abilities, creativity and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and formulate new products in the broad fields of organic, inorganic and hybrid materials with various applications
- Be part of an engaged team of materials scientists in the formulation, characterization and optimization of photopolymer systems
- Maintain excellent laboratory records, and write reports and research summaries as required
- Interact closely with other scientists to develop comprehensive solutions - Participate in intellectual property creation
Physical Job Requirements:
Office/Lab environment. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They are required to stand, walk or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
