LFC is a membrane that combines two properties: neutralization of the membrane charge and improved hydrophilicity. This makes it less susceptible to positively charged surfactants and significantly reduces fouling. In addition, the thicker feed spacer (34 mils) makes it less likely to clog with dirt. Fouling can also be minimized when treating wastewater and surface water (e.g., river water), which have a high potential for fouling.
