On March 10, 2013, a total of 21 staff of Nitto Denko Hong Kong and their families finished the 8.5-km walk and received a souvenir potato. The "Potato Charity Walk" is organized by Volunteer Space, a registered charity organization in Hong Kong. The event allows participants to experience how children of poor families in China's remote areas go to school every day by walking along rugged mountain roads with only a potato to fill their stomachs.

Employees solicited sponsorship from their colleagues, friends and families to support their participation in the charity walk. All in all, HKD14,390 was donated. The funds raised will benefit a "help-the-poor" program in China's remote areas supported by Volunteer Space, including building schools, helping children to receive a secondary education and a "one-child-one-schoolbag" activity which offers schoolbags to children.
