Compliance Promotion System

The compliance department is responsible for driving compliance in collaboration with the heads of each site and Group company, all of whom base their compliance decisions on the Nitto Group Business Conduct Guidelines.
The officer responsible for compliance addresses significant matters by reporting to management at a Strategy Committee meeting or elsewhere, thus ensuring compliance.
Every effort is being made to ensure the early detection of legal violations and ethical issues by implementing a whistleblowing system available to all employees of the Group. For our business partners, the Partner Hotline is available for them to seek consultation on cases of noncompliance or suspected noncompliance involving transactions with the Nitto Group.

Deepening Our Understanding of Compliance

At the Nitto Group, the Nitto Group Business Conduct Guidelines have been the foundation, as well as the cornerstone, of compliance since their establishment in 2006. Now available in 17 different languages, we have updated these Guidelines on our web site so that all our employees with diverse backgrounds, customs, and nationalities, can understand and practice. All employees receive relevant training as a part of our new employee orientation.
For compliance related to international trade, we obtained blanket permission pursuant to the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act and a license as an authorized exporter pursuant to the Customs Act, and have since consistently engaged in the Japanese exporting business. In order to ensure compliance in our supply chain, we established the CSR-Based Procurement Guidelines and ask suppliers to join in our initiatives in this regard.
The Nitto Group was not subject to legal action due to anti-competitive/trust behaviors or monopolistic practices, nor did we have any serious legal violations that involved environmental laws/regulations or socioeconomic ramifications.
