Nitto Denko Australia is pleased to announce their donation of over 600 PVC electrical tape rolls, to the Carolyn Goodie Melanoma Awareness Round, to be held August 5^th 2017.

The Carolyn Goodie Melanoma Awareness round is supported through AFL Barwon, Yarra Ranges and Gippsland. The match on August 5^th will see over 70 Football and Netball clubs wearing Nitto’s blue and yellow PVC electrical tape as arm bands. The awareness round organiser Steven Goodie explains, “When people go to the games, I want them asking what the blue and yellow arm bands are for. I want it to be a discussion-starter. Even if someone 20 or 25 knows they have a mole and that they need to keep an eye on it, that’s all it is. It’s a simple discussion.”

Carolyn Goodie passed away from Melanoma in June 2015, an active member of the Gembrook Football and Netball community her husband Steve started the awareness round to shed light on the importance of getting regular checkups, and taking preventative measures when playing sports outdoors.

For Australians aged 15-29 years, melanoma is the most commonly diagnosed cancer. It accounts for more than a quarter of all cancers diagnosed in that age group. While treatments are improving, prevention and early detection still remain the strongest to confront the disease.

Nitto is all about persistence towards success and we as a business and members of the community hope that this donation can help further push the important message successfully about melanoma that Steve has been so persistent in delivering.”

All monies raised before and during this round will be used to fund a Melanoma Research Grant at Eastern Health.
