Protecting the Natural Environment and History of Singapore

On October 18, 2014, Nitto Denko Singapore held “Keep Singapore Clean Movement,” a clean-up activity, for the second time. This time, company employees picked up litter at Labrador Nature Reserve in the southern part of Singapore. This park, facing the sea and with a broad area of 16.8 ha, is a habitat of a rich variety of flora and fauna. In addition, it is of historical significance, having played the role of one of the British navy’s strategic defenses.

Participants enjoyed a beautiful day, reaping a bountiful 'harvest' and spending a meaningful time together.

Restoring Nature in the Philippines

Nitto Denko Philippines (NDP), based in Sta. Rosa, supports local environmental conservation activities. In fiscal 2014, they implemented three activities.

On April 27, 2014, “SILAKUBO Goes Beyond the Distance – Run and Plant a Tree” was held with the purpose of protecting Sta. Rosa Watershed, which runs through the city. Thirty-six employees entered the run. It was a unique event in which all runners planted trees. On July 13, 32 employees participated in “Manila Bay Clean-up Fun Run,” part of whose proceeds, such as participation fees, will be used for nature conservation, and an enlightenment activity on Manila Bay.

On July 26, NDP planted 1,000 mangrove trees along the coast in Sariaya, Quezon with NDP suppliers and local public officials. In the future, mature mangrove trees will conserve the ecosystem and protect from natural disasters.
