At the Nitto Denko Group (hereinafter “the Nitto Group”), we are working to continue supplying to customers while prioritizing everyone’s health and safety and preventing the spread of infection. We are making the utmost efforts to ensure that products and services are provided to customers without hindrance.
1. Securing the health and safety of group employees and their families
- We try to avoid the “Three Cs” (closed spaces, crowded places, and close contact) that facilitate the transmission of infectious disease and repeatedly and thoroughly conduct the basic behaviors for preventing infection (the wearing of face masks, hand washing, etc.). We have also created and put in place guidelines for traveling on business and holding meetings and events outside the company.
- We are promoting work from home with the understanding of customers and business partners. For departments where work from home is difficult, we have implemented measures to mitigate the risk of infection while commuting.
2. Supplying products and services
- At the end of January, the Nitto Group launched the Emergency Management Headquarters headed by our president. The team works closely with the Nitto Group sites in Japan and overseas to secure requisite materials such as masks and hand sanitizer and establish a group-wide epidemic prevention framework.
- While we stopped operations at some sites at the request of certain country’s governments, all Nitto Group sites are currently operating.
3. Contributing to the community and society
- In response to the urgent need for surgical masks and other materials at medical institutions, we contributed to the community in the following ways:
- Donated surgical masks and face shields to medical institutions and associations
- Donated surgical masks to local governments
- Donated RMB 1 million (approx. JPY 16 million) to the Shanghai Health and Medical Development Foundation
- In developing and emerging nations where the future spread of infection is feared, there are concerns about secondary damage such as the deprivation of children’s health and safety; therefore, we have supported UNICEF’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund with a donation of USD 100,000 (approx. JPY 11 million).
