In the Nitto Group, with the aim of sharing excellent safety activities and further enhance safety at each site and workplace, we have annually held Safety Promotion Conference since 2020. Due to the spread of Covid-19 infections, in 2020 and 2021 the conference had to be held remotely.
In 2022, however, the conference was held in a hybrid manner in person and remotely. In the conference excellent safety activities are awarded, and this year’s conference presented awards in the following three categories:
Representatives of the sites or teams awarded made presentations on their activities and encouraged roll-out of such activities throughout the Nitto Denko Group.
*Group Activity Toward Excellence – small group activities with the aim to “revitalize workplaces” and “improve quality.”

In Shenzhen Nitto Optical, in order to tackle a drastic increase of traffic volume caused by the rapid urbanization of the surrounding areas, various traffic safety activities have been carried out. In addition to proposing improvement of the traffic environment to authorities, through all-participating activities including studying traffic rules, watching a traffic accident video, traffic patrol, etc. despite being large-scale with nearly 2,000 employees, the site has achieved zero traffic accidents for four consecutive years.

Korea Nitto Optical has introduced a human detection sensor and IC tags with the aim of achieving zero forklift accidents. This system triggers a warning alarm when pedestrians with IC tags approach within a certain distance of forklifts equipped with human detection sensors (Picture.1). This also applies when multiple forklifts are approaching each other within a certain distance (Picture.2). Through this engineering approach, forklift-related risks have been greatly reduced.
