At the Nitto Group, we maintain a global personnel system to develop Nitto Persons through a series of processes from recruitment, HR development, to career building. To assist individuals in developing their competency, we are expanding opportunities for personal interviews and training.
We believe that we can achieve sustainable growth of our people and organization by cultivating employees who remain passionate about growth and eagerly continue to challenge themselves, while at the same time developing a corporate culture and programs in line with our Corporate Philosophy.

Employment

The ever-changing business environment these days is pushing the Nitto Group into the global market with the result that its overseas sales ratio reached over 70% in fiscal 2018. Going forward, we will make greater efforts to recruit and develop global-minded people who can address the diverse needs in the multipolarizing market from the perspectives of each country and region.

HR Development

We determine what knowledge and skill sets people need to acquire at each stage of the career ladder and incorporate them into a training curriculum so that each employee may choose courses on their own initiative. At the same time, we offer a wide range of training opportunities tailored for each job function, such as sales, production engineering, and manufacturing, thereby raising the overall competency level of each job function. In addition to such training opportunities, we will expedite our efforts to foster a workplace environment and culture in which the entire workplace serves as a vehicle for cultivating human resources.

Also, with a view to fostering future senior executives for the Group, we launched the Nitto Global Business Academy (NGBA), which has driven the Nitto Group forward in the area of new business creation and solutions to managerial issues. Our goal is to transform NGBA into a program that better caters to practical needs as a powerhouse that cultivates the human resources who will shape Nitto’s future identity.

Right People in the Right Positions

At the Nitto Group, we make it a point to put the right people in the right positions across the globe to ensure business growth and to help employees develop and build their career.
As a global player, it is imperative to strengthen local management. Accordingly, we are proactively assigning local people to key positions at our overseas subsidiaries, believing that management of those locations is best left to people from each country and region.

Personnel System, Compensations

To facilitate personnel rotation across countries and regions, we have introduced a globally common job grade system and performance managements system. “MBO/Goal Assessment (at least once a year)” that measures the degree of achievement of goals and objectives and “competency assessment (once a year)” that measures how well an employee understands and exhibits the behaviors based on the corporate philosophy.
We fairly evaluate the results of our employees.
We comply with minimum wage requirements established in each country/region.

Creating a Good Work Environment

At the Nitto Group, we make conscientious efforts to create a work environment in which employees are constantly encouraged to challenge themselves, so that the company and its employees will grow together.
With labor and management joining together, we are working on personnel systems and benefit programs in an effort to establish a welfare system that supports a good work-life balance.

Human Resources – Health Management for a Productive Work Environment

The Nitto Group believes that the mental and physical health of our employees is closely connected to our ability to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers. As such, we are most committed to the well-being of our employees.

We have established a new three-year plan for occupational health activities. Our goal is to improve the workplace environment and individual lifestyles with respect to both physical and mental well-being.

Nitto Denko Corporation and Nitto Business Expert Corporation, which is a Nitto Denko Group Company, have been certified as “Health Management Excellent Corporation 2020“ by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of the Japanese Government for their persistent efforts in health promotion.

Based on the “New Three-Year Plan for Occupational Health Activities, we will strengthen our efforts to maintain and promote the physical and mental health of all Group employees and strive to have all Group companies certified as “Health Management Excellent Corporations”.

Management of Work Hours

Both labor and management constantly check and monitor work hours and ensure that the provisions of Article 36 (Overtime Work and Work on Days Off) of the Labor Standards Act of Japan are observed, in order to reduce long work hours. From FY2018, in an effort to have individual employees proactively promote work style reform, we introduced a program to incentivize them when target total work hours agreed upon by both the company and workers are met.

Support for Childcare and Long-Term Care

We have established and improved programs that allow our employees to continue working as they provide care to children and family members, so that they can safely navigate both life events and career.
At Nitto (non-consolidated) since 2002, a total of about 500 employees have taken childcare leave and more than 90% of them returned to work. This remarkable success is derived from the fact that we constantly keep abreast with the nature of support that is needed and make continual improvements accordingly, all while employees that have returned from childcare leave act as role models.
