About Ultrafiltration

Separation of macromolecules with molecular weights of 1,000 - 300,000 is referred to as ultrafiltration (UF).
The ultrafiltration membrane is an asymmetric membrane consisting of a skin layer and a sponge layer. This membrane prevents passage of macromolecules but allows water, salts, and low molecular weight substances to pass through. Water permeability is remarkably high.
